money for scholarship use to African Americans, a great deal of the money

is being  returned because of a lack of interest. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS

USDA's scholarship program

This is information on the USDA's scholarship program - while it is for the Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions there is no "race" requirement for these scholarships.  The bottom lists the schools (like Florida A&M, Kentucky State University , etc.).. this is a great chance for full tuition, room & boards and books, etc. New scholarships are available every year. Eligibility

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens who have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. certificate and are starting their first year of college for a bachelor's degree.  (Note:  Since this program is intended to increase the number of students studying agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related disciplines at participating institutions, currently enrolled bachelor's-level students in these institutions are not eligible to apply.)

  • Applicant must: Be a U.S. citizen

  • Be an entering freshman

  • Hold a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate

  • Have a high school GPA of 3.0 or better

  • Have a combined verbal/math score of 1,000 or more on the SAT or a composite score of 21 or more on the ACT

  • Attend one of the seventeen 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions

  • Study agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or other related

  • Demonstrate leadership and community service

  • Apply for admission to the institution(s) of his or her choice

  • Submit an official transcript with the school seal and an authorized

  • Sign all applications (original signature only)

  • All application materials must be postmarked no later than January 15 and sent to the institution(s) selected by the applicant to attend.

Medical School Scholarships

Medical School Scholarships are available to African Americans interested in a free medical degree.  Washington University in St. Louis has scholarships to award bright black Americans.  The students that are chosen will be awarded full tuition for 4 yrs. -$30,000 per year plus $2,500 stipend.  For more information call (800) 638-0700 or visit the website at www.wustl.edu.

Great Minority Scholarships

The Florida A&M University (FAMU) is soliciting your help in finding qualified minority candidates interested in attending FAMU or one of the other Historically Black College or Universities (Morehouse, Tuskegee University, Norfolk State, Prairie View, Savannah State and Southern) on a Navy ROTC Scholarship.  This scholarship is called the Historically Black College Scholarship.

The criteria for the scholarship is as follows:

  1. Must be an African American or Hispanic

  2. High School Senior

  3. High School GPA 3.0 or better

  4. SAT Score 1050 (530 verbal/ 520 math) or ACT Score 22 (22 English/ 22 math)

Once information is received their application will be screened and they will be informed if they will be submitted to Chief of Naval Education and training (CNET) for the scholarship.  Prior to awarding the scholarship, a qualified applicant must pass a medical exam, paid for by the Navy.  The scholarship pays for tuition, fees, books, uniforms, and a monthly stipend of $200.00.  In addition if a student attends FAMU on a NROTC Scholarship, the University offers a limited number of ROOM & BOARD scholarships.  The end result is that the student attends college on a FULL RIDE!
